[00:00:00] Speaker A: He's not doing that. And he's not saying, hey, I'll help you occasionally. He's actually saying, this quality of life that I have, that's what I want you to have. So that's really powerful because Jesus quality of life was God's quality. So he's saying, I want you to have God quality. And so that means the same anointing Jesus had and has now, the same affection from the father, the same acceptance, the same adoration, the warmth, the tenderness, all these things that Jesus was experiencing then and is even more powerful now. He's saying, that's the quality of life I've come to give you to the fullest. Hi. Thank you for joining the Wealth Builders podcast. I'm Dave Metcalf, and I am with my lovely, amazing wife, Karen. [00:01:04] Speaker B: Hello, everybody. I'm so glad to be here with you. [00:01:07] Speaker A: Well, it's great to be here with you as well. And we're gonna have a fun time talking together tonight, but we're gonna include you as well. So we want to kind of inviting. [00:01:17] Speaker B: Them into our living room. Literally. [00:01:18] Speaker A: Yeah, this is literally our living room. This is the cats right here. And we're so glad you're a part of this. And we've got a fun topic tonight. [00:01:26] Speaker B: We do. Why don't you introduce it? [00:01:28] Speaker A: Okay. So the topic tonight is business on earth as it is in heaven. Business on earth as it is in heaven. [00:01:38] Speaker B: That is very clever. Did you come up with that yourself? [00:01:40] Speaker A: Well, I did. It just kind of hit me. And really, to be completely frank, it probably doesn't line up exactly like in the Bible, but we're going to squeeze it in and make sense of it. So all of you out there thinking, hey, wait a minute, what are you talking about? I don't remember a verse that says that there's not. But we'll show you how it kind of fits together. [00:02:02] Speaker B: Yeah, well, in a way, it's kind of cool because we want to bring heaven on earth and we do that in our businesses. [00:02:09] Speaker A: Exactly. That's where I was going to get to. So the idea is we have this experience with God, and out of that experience we conduct the affairs of our life, and we are actually commissioned to be a very profitable, influential, prosperous person. And as a result, we conduct business and life on earth as it is in heaven. So I guess that too far of a stretch. [00:02:35] Speaker B: It's not. [00:02:37] Speaker A: All right. Well, the first point I want to bring to you is everything starts with your experience with God. Now, this is a verse of John 17 three that I want to share? And the verse essentially says, actually, Jesus is talking. This is the last conversation he's having with his father before he passes away. And in that conversation he says something very important. He says, this is eternal life. So you can imagine whatever follows that Jesus. So he's defining it, he's defining it. And whatever follows that has got to be important. And he goes on to say that eternal life is knowing the one true goddess, Jesus Christ, whom he sent. So he put himself right there in the picture with his father, the one true God. Now here's what's really cool about this verse. There's a word in there that they would know the one true God. And in the Greek, that is not a word that is defined or described as head knowledge. And the importance of that is in life. We go to school, we prepare our lives, and we do it all. We get a lot of head knowledge, and we're just used to that, right? We're taught things, we go to school, we learn how to read and say our father, which is important, that's all important. But that is like head knowledge, something we're getting like out of a book. And this word actually in the Greek means experience personally. So Jesus is saying that you will have eternal life when you experience goddess personally, not just read about him, because you can read about God all day long and that wouldn't impact your life at all. So that's the point I want to make, first of all, is that God wants to have an experience with you, and that is a part of eternal life right there. And I think that's a real key place to start. [00:04:37] Speaker B: I agree. That's really good because that's the foundation of everything. [00:04:41] Speaker A: That's the foundation of everything. All right, so, so now we're going to talk about the idea of what does experiencing God look like? And there's a lot of different answers that we can maybe talk about in a future podcast, because certainly it's experiencing his love, it's experiencing his forgiveness. It's all these things are very important. But a couple of things I want to bring out in this particular episode is your experience with God. Is Jesus's quality of life not a quality of life that we try to make? Not, not a quality life that we try to work hard to get. It's a quality of life that comes only through Jesus. So the verse we're using here is John 1010. And this is where Jesus said, I've come first part of it, he says, the thief is here, that's Satan, and he's going to, like, try to lie to you, destroy you. [00:05:30] Speaker B: He'll kill. Destroy. Yes. [00:05:32] Speaker A: But I've come that you might have life, and life to the fullest. Some translations say abundantly. Well, the cool part about this word life, in the Greek, it's Zoe. Now we have a team member. Quite the amazing Zoe. [00:05:48] Speaker B: She's amazing. [00:05:49] Speaker A: She's amazing. And in the Greek, this word Zoe actually means the quality of life possessed by the person who's giving it. So what Jesus is saying here, very powerful statement. I'm not coming to cheer you on. Like, Karen. I really hope you have a quality life. [00:06:08] Speaker B: Come on. You can do it from the grandstands. [00:06:12] Speaker A: Right, right. He's not doing that. And he's not saying, hey, I'll help you occasionally. He's actually saying, this quality of life that I have, that's what I want you to have. So that's really powerful, because Jesus's quality of life was God quality. So he's saying, I want you to have God quality. And so that means the same anointing Jesus had and has now the same affection from the father, the same acceptance, the same adoration, the warmth, the tenderness, all these things that Jesus was experiencing then and is even more powerful now. He's saying, that's the quality of life I've come to give you a. To the fullest. [00:06:54] Speaker B: Yeah. So that quality of life that Jesus has, he has come to give us. And it's not just. I mean, it's everywhere in our life. It's not just like in parcels. That means every area of our life. And as you were sharing that, I was just thinking about even when Jesus was in front with the, you know, he had five fishes and he had all this multitude to feed. And he modeled for us that he lifted what he had up to heaven. And you described this really well to gain God's perspective. And the food multiplied to feed the thousands. Right. [00:07:34] Speaker A: Exactly. [00:07:34] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:07:35] Speaker A: He looked to heaven. That verse says, and that word look means a change in perspective. [00:07:41] Speaker B: Yes. [00:07:41] Speaker A: So he saw the two fish. Yeah. I mean, that's how we are in life, too. Right? We look at the bill or something, we go, what? [00:07:50] Speaker B: But with that, it's like, to expand, like, into what does this quality of life mean? And so Jesus was facing lack and he took, he got God's perspective and it multiplied. Because I think sometimes we think that, oh, God's not really interested in my business. That's not true. And that's what we're talking about today. No, he wants us to increase in all those areas. So I'm really excited about this podcast because I think there's a revelation or an understanding. You know, I kind of want us to catch it right? That God is interested in your business, he is interested in your finances, obviously family health and everything. And that same anointing, that Jesus had to bring increase in a situation of lack or to bring answers in a situation where it didn't seem there were any answers, or, you know, when faced with bad news, to get God's perspective, I mean, that is really powerful. [00:08:50] Speaker A: It really is. And that's really good perspective, that every part of our life actually reflects the goodness of God, the favor of God, the provision of God. And to just give a couple more points about this, besides him having this himself, he actually modeled it for us because Hebrews tells us that he was the perfect representation of the father. And he essentially said that everything I'm doing, you're gonna do, you're even gonna do better. Now, if Jesus said that to me, I'd be thinking, wait a second, you braced onto the page. [00:09:24] Speaker B: I'm like, what? [00:09:25] Speaker A: Like, what's he talking about? And I think his real answer was, we were going to share the gospel and we're going to make new creations out of people because we lead them to Jesus. And that's better than being healed physically or even emotionally. But to get back to this point, the idea is Jesus modeled that love was the basis of everything. And he wanted that quality of love to be active in our lives so that we, we are in a place where we could trust him and believe in him on his promises and everything he's saying, because he's saying, I'm coming to give this quality of life. So this is part of it. And then the next thing I want to mention is that Jesus spent quite a bit of time preaching or teaching about the kingdom of goddess, the kingdom of heaven. Now this is where we're going to start to break it down a little bit into some of the business ideas. And one of the things I'd like to point out here is that heaven on earth is a reality that we can experience in our business. And the experience actually begins when we believe Jesus. That's where it starts. So experiencing God is the experience of Jesus, and it all starts in our heart, because that is, that is the way we enter God's realm through our heart. It's not like, oh, I think God might be a good idea and maybe I'll check into it. There's something more deeper. There's something in the heart that actually, I believe Jesus. And that's the beauty of it. And actually, Jesus said that when we do believe in him, he told Nicodemus in John three three that that would give him the ability to see the kingdom. Now, what's interesting there is he didn't tell Nicodemus he would experience it all. He just said, you can see it. So the entry point first is believing God like Jesus. I believe you, Jesus, and receiving him as our savior and Lord, actually accepting the free gift of eternal life. Let's get that clear. So we believe in Jesus. We accept his free gift of salvation. And then Jesus is telling us that based upon that, we can actually begin to see the kingdom of God. [00:11:41] Speaker B: See, on the inside. [00:11:42] Speaker A: Well, we can see it in our eyes as well, because everything starts at the heart. But Jesus said that the kingdom of God is within us. So when Jesus comes back, like the second coming of Jesus, we will see the kingdom of God in a physical way. It'll be on planet earth. And it's going to be very obvious right now, that realm, the kingdom of God, that realm is in us because we are the house of God, where, like the tabernacle, we carry his presence. And that's where he actually communicates with us inside our heart. That's where our beliefs are, our values. Everything is formed. His voice is all happy in our heart. So Jesus is saying that this part, we can see the kingdom of God. So that's what I want to talk about next. Okay, the kingdom of God. [00:12:29] Speaker B: All right. [00:12:30] Speaker A: All right. Do you have anything you want to add to that? [00:12:32] Speaker B: No, I'm just, like, I'm waiting for the connection to the business. [00:12:36] Speaker A: I'll speed this up. Okay. So the kingdom of God. Let's, let's go over that one more time. It's God's will. It's what Jesus is wanting to establish on earth. In our hearts, the kingdom of God is within us so that it comes out in our activities on the earth. [00:12:54] Speaker B: Right. [00:12:55] Speaker A: And then secondly, it's as we open our heart, we see that, that we experience the kingdom of God, which, which Paul actually described as righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. So the kingdom of God is something that we're bringing this kind of experience into our business lives, our family lives, our personal lives. And now we want to talk about, okay, that's the kingdom of God. What is the kingdom of heaven? So the first part of this is the kingdom of God is where you enter that realm because you receive Jesus as your lord and savior. That's where we're saying Jesus you're my lord. [00:13:35] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:13:36] Speaker A: You're over my life. And then I choose to harmonize myself with you, or I choose to surrender myself to you. That's important, because if we don't do that, then we don't really experience it all. But that's part of the experience, is our choosing to do that. Now, the kingdom of heaven is really cool because this is a realm where there's no lack, there's no needs. All of our desires are met. And I'm talking about right desires. [00:14:01] Speaker B: Right. [00:14:02] Speaker A: It kind of reminds me of a funny story, because there's this verse out of James where he talks about, you don't have anything because you ask amiss. [00:14:12] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:14:12] Speaker A: And there's this guy, knew this old timer that had a radio program, and he said, the problem with you people is you're asking the prophet Amos for all kinds of wrong things. And so my friend corrected his uncle and said, it's not Amos. It's like you ask a miss. Like, it's like, oh, I don't care who you're asking you. So it's King James word. You ask him this. Well, in the context of that verse he's talking about, there's problems with, you're wanting to kill people have wars, adultery, and if you're asking for something along those lines, you're not going to get it. [00:14:48] Speaker B: It's not going to happen. [00:14:49] Speaker A: But the kingdom of heaven is all the resources that are in heaven, they're all available to us. And as we're surrendered to the Lord and his lordship, what happens is the Holy Spirit begins to teach us how to manage the resources. Now, this is getting pretty exciting because we're bringing the heavenly resources so good down into our business life. And this plays out really well in Matthew 633. Here, Jesus says that seek first the kingdom of God. That means the lordship of Jesus and his righteousness. Now, righteousness is really cool, because righteousness, I'm going to explain in just a couple moments, is not a legalistic perfectionism system. It's just the way things are in God. So when we seek the way God's life is, his nature, his character, then he says, all these other things will be added. What are the other things? The kingdom of heaven. All those resources, all those incredible resources available to us, they all get added automatically. Once we do the first thing of responding to Jesus, his lordship walking in the ways of God, then all the kingdom of heaven, it's not just a shirt. Oh, gosh, I need a shirt. It's like the whole deal that we actually get. And that is the true meaning of Matthew 633. It's very powerful. [00:16:14] Speaker B: So good. [00:16:17] Speaker A: Anything you want to add to that? No, I feel like I'm doing like a lot of talking. [00:16:20] Speaker B: That's okay. It's very good. Keep going. [00:16:23] Speaker A: Okay, so to apply this now in business, I want to talk about a verse that you and I essentially read months ago, and we started taking some action on it. And that this verse I'm referencing is Matthew seven seven through verse eight. Well, in Matthew seven seven, Jesus says, ask and you'll find. Seek and it'll be given. Knock and it'll be open to you. And then in verse eight, he adds to given, he says, you'll receive. So when we're seeking, we not only find, but we actually receive. And then he says, knock and the door will be open to you. So here's what I want to talk about as an example of putting this into business. And I'm not quite sure how much time we have left in this podcast, so I might have to rush through this part. But essentially, this is an idea of how we're bringing through our relationship with the Lord, the activity into the earthly realm. So what you and I did is we started talking about, well, what are some things that we want to ask God to give us. Yeah. [00:17:32] Speaker B: To give some thought to it. Because a lot of times, I don't know, there's a perspective that, well, if God wanted something, he would give it to me. Or even I caught myself the other day just asking, you know, there was something I wanted and I was like, God, what do you think? Is this okay to ask for this number of something? And it was just like, it's already done, so it's up to you. Right. And so I really like where you're going with this, because a lot of times we don't even understand that God is giving us an invitation to ask him for these things and that he wants to be a part of it. [00:18:13] Speaker A: Yeah. I want to mention holding up this little notebook here, which by the way, it says, number one. Grandpa. Yes. [00:18:21] Speaker B: Got that from Levi and Carly. [00:18:23] Speaker A: Levi and Carly. Carly is six weeks and some days. [00:18:26] Speaker B: Nine weeks. [00:18:27] Speaker A: Nine weeks. Oh my gosh. Okay. The baby's coming. Well, a good practice that you can do is just keep some notes in a little journal about little ideas that hit you. So in the journal here, I like to capture some of the ideas that we talk about. And then if I have like a vision or a dream, I like to turn the journal over backwards and write that direction and just keep track of things that are kind of, like, more spiritually dynamic. Well, the reason why I'm bringing that up is we first wrote down the reference, ask, seek, and nothing. And then we got to talking about it, and I just began to realize that there's all kinds of things we could put here that we're asking and we're seeking and we're knocking. And the key to this, friends, that I want you to really capture, is verse eleven. Jesus is saying, the reason why you can ask and be given, seek and you'll find, knock on the door, be open, is because the father wants to give you good gifts. That really tells it all. It does. And the good gifts come from the kingdom of heaven, which are all the resources that he wants you to learn how to tap into. Because it's like, we could have a huge bank account, but if we don't know how to spend the money, that's true. [00:19:46] Speaker B: We can't make the withdrawal. We can't do anything with it. [00:19:49] Speaker A: Exactly. So I want to give three examples that you and I put on our list here. [00:19:53] Speaker B: Awesome. [00:19:54] Speaker A: Okay. Example number one. This is going back a little bit, but we're asking that we would have a family business. [00:20:01] Speaker B: Yes. [00:20:02] Speaker A: We were asking. It'll be good. [00:20:03] Speaker B: It seemed almost impossible at the time just because of the dynamics of Levi working in California. And it's just like, financially, we're like, ah, I don't know how this is gonna work. [00:20:15] Speaker A: Yeah, well, he was working in California. He's in Texas. It looks like for a moment, he might go to Tennessee. [00:20:21] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:20:22] Speaker A: And then what we chose, and now you're finding out, Levi, is that we chose to not put any pressure on him. [00:20:27] Speaker B: Yes. [00:20:28] Speaker A: And we just chose to, like, let it roll out and kind of happen because we realized that God is speaking to each of us. And then he said, hey, real estate is really what I want to do now. He's an expert in trees. He was working for trees. [00:20:42] Speaker B: Yep. [00:20:43] Speaker A: And I mean, you know, he was going through pointing out problems. [00:20:46] Speaker B: Absolutely. And doing a huge case and doing really well. [00:20:49] Speaker A: Yeah, doing really well. But his heart was real estate. Yeah. And then we all decided, okay, how about if we do a family business? And that's what we're doing today. So we have a family business. We do. And the beauty is it started with us asking. [00:21:04] Speaker B: That is such a good point. [00:21:06] Speaker A: And it was given. [00:21:07] Speaker B: It was given. [00:21:08] Speaker A: It, like, almost moves me to, like, an emotional point, to just see how God brings us all together right in front of our eyes. And it was something that all we had to really do is, like, desire in our heart and ask about it. [00:21:21] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:21:22] Speaker A: Really cool. [00:21:23] Speaker B: Really cool. [00:21:23] Speaker A: Okay, well, let's do a less emotional point. Okay. Here's a good one. Under the seeking, you'll find. Yeah. Because we like real estate. We. One day we're talking about, let's find an off the market. [00:21:40] Speaker B: Yes. Deal. [00:21:41] Speaker A: Because off the market deal is a better deal because you're not going through, like, paying commissions, realtors and all that kind of stuff. Competition. And we didn't know how it's gonna happen. Like, I was thinking, our neighbor is gonna walk over, which happened. [00:21:54] Speaker B: It did. [00:21:55] Speaker A: They're gonna did, but we didn't go for that. [00:21:59] Speaker B: That wasn't the right one. [00:22:00] Speaker A: Yeah. I was thinking, oh, a neighbor might talk to us, and that happened, which kind of shows us that, you know, even though it's. You're. Something's coming together. Yeah. It doesn't mean it's the right deal. Well, then our friend Troy came to us, and he's got a franchise, and he said, hey, I've got too many things going. Do you want to take this deal on? [00:22:18] Speaker B: Yeah. An off market deal. [00:22:20] Speaker A: An off market deal. So this was like, a spiritual combination of writing down, responding to the word of God, which the word tells us that when we respond to what we're hearing by faith, trusting, and believing in it, things happen, and it's so beautiful. So we got the off market deal. [00:22:41] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:22:41] Speaker A: And then the. The last example I thought we'd use is we were knocking. We wanted to knock on an alternative finance deal. [00:22:48] Speaker B: We did. [00:22:49] Speaker A: Okay, if you're coming. Kind of catching. This is all about real estate, which is a business, which is kind of good. I also want to start, like, cheering up or something. It is a business. So we wanted that because we just needed that for some of the things that we were doing. And then, through a set of circumstances, we met an individual. [00:23:09] Speaker B: We did. [00:23:10] Speaker A: And now we have about three deals going with him. We do. Off market? [00:23:14] Speaker B: Yes. [00:23:15] Speaker A: Excuse me. Not off market, but, like, out of the normal. Conventional. [00:23:19] Speaker B: Yeah, out of conventional. [00:23:20] Speaker A: Yes. That's what I meant to say. So, like, we're knocking on unconventional type funding, but it's not the typical conventional funding, but it is totally legal. It's a legal company, and it's defined. Maybe you could explain hard money a little bit, because that's usually like. [00:23:36] Speaker B: Yeah, we talk about this a lot in coaching as well, and there are a lot of different ways to do creative financing. And what used to be, we call hard money is not what it is today. There's a lot of reputable companies, but because the conventional financing has been really restricted under this administration. And then also because it's almost like punishing the investor, the opportunities that were there through conventional financing just are not there anymore. So through that, we are able to go to a private lender. I'd probably call him a private lender instead of a hard money lender. That's good, because a private lender is someone that has got financing that's coming outside of the normal freddie, Fannie, that type of program. So we connected with someone, built a rapport relationship, and literally, we find any property, it's always a yes. And then we just walk through how much improvement we're going to do and things. And it was really an answer to prayer because what we were doing was not something that was going to fix into or fit into the normal box or square, you might say, of Fannie and Freddie. That's how I describe it. So that was a huge blessing, and it helped create a pathway. It provided a resource for us to be able to pursue and to do what God has called us to do as a family in our real estate business. And that same concept, through what Dave, you've been talking about, is available to us in our nonprofits, in any type of business. I mean, another example is, I have a marketing agency, but I don't have time to run that. Right? And so we've been praying about it, like, what does this look like? And then Carly, you know, marries Levi and she runs my marketing agency. Well, that is an answer to the ask. You know, the seek, the knock is something that we put before the Lord. And it's like, I know there's something here, but I don't have the time to do it. And then Carly comes in and provides her with a job in addition to the real estate, and she runs it way better than I ever could. You know, that's the beauty of it. But what we're talking about here is knowing that this is available to people. So if we didn't understand that this supernatural pathway was available to us, we would have no capacity to ask, to seek and to knock. [00:26:07] Speaker A: That's right. [00:26:07] Speaker B: Because we wouldn't even know it's available. Or we would think like, oh, that's only for us over here in this spiritual bucket. Or maybe just for healing and not have an understanding that, no, this is in every area of our life. But when we open this up, we say, God cares about your business. God cares about your real estate. God cares about everything. You set your hand to, and he wants to be your source. Right now, he doesn't reign money out of heaven for us to fund the deals, but he gives us divine connections. We have favor. He gives us the resources through sales of property that is supernatural. We've experienced all of this. And so, but when we ask him, we understand all these things come from us seeking God to provide us with what we need to really bring heaven on earth in our business and those matters. So, you know, hopefully a lot of people have just had their, like, wow, I didn't know that this was a pathway that I could follow. And even in all the promises of God in the scriptures, if we realize it isn't just for narrow areas of our life, when we look at the prosperity God has provided, we look at the blessings of God that he's provided. It's in every area of our life. [00:27:27] Speaker A: Yeah, it really is. Should we wrap this up with our friends? [00:27:30] Speaker B: Yes. [00:27:31] Speaker A: Okay. So we want to tell you that God wants to prosper you, and this happens through an experience with him. And he wants to prosper you so that you have all the resources you need to accomplish the will of God in your life. You have wealth that you can build to make a difference and leave a legacy, because that's part of God's intention. He's a family legacy thinker. And so that's how we would think. [00:27:51] Speaker B: Exactly. [00:27:52] Speaker A: And so we want to leave you with the idea of take a, take a piece of paper or if you're really good with excel, maybe a couple columns and cells and just write down, ask. And then on the side, what are some things you want to find where some things you want to be given? What are some things you want opened? And it could be a variety of things on my list. I have personal things like health. I have family things, maybe closeness, ideas, things that we're doing as a family, things we're doing as a business. It's not just all business. It's our whole life. [00:28:22] Speaker B: Our whole life. [00:28:23] Speaker A: And so take some time just to do that. And then as you enter into that relationship that you already have, you're essentially saying to Jesus, I'm seeking first your kingdom, which means, Jesus, you're my lord. I'm putting you first. I choose to harmonize with you and walk in step with your holy spirit. And I choose to walk in a way that is God's path, that's righteousness. And then I thank you that you're going to add all these resources to the kingdom of heaven, and you're going to teach me how to manage them so that I can really accomplish the work of God in my life and be the influence and the person I'm supposed to be. [00:28:57] Speaker B: Yeah, that is awesome. Those are some really great practical steps. And so thank you so much, Dave, for sharing that and just giving us a little pathway to believe God for more and for increased. Also, one of the products that we're featuring on this podcast is change mastery. And Dave, I know you've been going through that book and so have I, and it's amazing, but Billy and Becky just, they did film four video series on that, or four, I guess, video teachings on it. We've got the workbook, we've got the change mastery book, and we've got a devotional. So we just want to invite you to take advantage of that and to learn more about it, go to wealthbuilders.org forward slash shop and you learn more about it. And it's gonna be amazing. And for us to actually move into other areas and to really grab hold of more that God has for us, we need to learn to get that new wineskin right. [00:29:55] Speaker A: That's right. [00:29:56] Speaker B: And to learn how to change and move with the bigness of God. I think our biggest problem is not believing big enough, right? Yeah. Awesome. All right, Dave, thank you so much for having me. [00:30:07] Speaker A: Thank you for having me. Oh, my goodness. [00:30:09] Speaker B: It's awesome. And thanks all of you for being a part of the wealth builders family and for joining us today. God bless you and make it a great rest of the day.
